Greens Committee Winter Update

The Greens Staff have been hard at work on the golf course preparing it for winter.

Greens, aprons and collars have been tinned and slit to help with drainage.
All fairways and walkways have been verti drained
Many bunkers have been dug and raked
Tee's (including ladies) have been hollow tinned to aid de-compaction
Greens staff will be seeking to flatten out the worst high and low spots on tees and will begin patching up areas near greens which are bare.

Once Spring arrives all tees will be hollow tinned again, seeded and dressed. This will mean some areas being roped off to aid growth so please avoid walking across them.

Who knows what winter will bring!

We have done our best to combat diseases on the greens this autumn and go into winter in resonable shape.

We hope to use the winter to sort out problems with some bunkers, take every opportunity to aid drainage on the greens, prepare soil for grass growth and clear any untidy areas.

We have the rough in play under control and are harvesting these areas where we can and will let nature take its course.

The Greens Committee has begun drawing up plans for spring, summer and autumn 2012 and in the New Year I shall share this with you.

Best Wishes

Trevor Harper - Greens Director
